2016 has been a year where a lot of things changed for me. A change of country and a change of lifestyle.
At the start of the year the plan was to continue teaching in Asia and to see how things panned out from there.
However, during a drink with my wife in a bar in Cambodia during our holidays, both of us confessed we had been thinking that life in Asia was not as good as we thought. Both of us thought that it was too hot, working conditions were not great and it was time for another change.
After watching Britain decide to kick itself in the face by choosing Brexit, this confirmed what we were thinking, and that we were not going to return to England.
So, to cut a very long story short, I accepted a job in Piacenza teaching English. Piacenza is a town just south of Milan with a population of approximately 100,000 people.
I’ve always loved Italy whenever I have been on holiday, but I was apprehensive as to how things would turn out working in a foreign country,
All my fears were unfounded as I quickly settled in and Piacenza is now definitely home to me!
Life in Italy revolves around food, wine, friends and family. There also seems to be a food festival every weekend celebrating one or many of the wonderful ingredients that this part of the world produces.
The best thing about this is that this has reignited my interest in blogging, hence the reason why I’m writing this post!
This blog is still a work in progress, but as it develops I will be sharing the best that this country has to offer in food, drink, recipes and lifestyle. There may be other surprises as I discover more about this wonderful country!
2017 is shaping up to be a fantastic year for me and my family. Hopefully it will be the same for you!
